I think this game is perfect for Family Game Night! It’s fast paced! The play feels a lot like playing Hungry Hungry Hippos to me, actually. There is really no advantage to being either older or younger; it’s a pretty even playing field. If you go too fast or hit to hard, the alien won’t make it onto the ship. If you hit too softly, the alien stops short of its goal. One thing to note about this game is that playing does require a bit of forethought because you have to charge the drone before you play. The instructions recommend charging 10 minutes for the best results. You can take up most of that time getting the game set up and explaining the rules to new players, though! The reason why I didn't give the game a full five stars is because Drone Pad/Launcher requires four AAA batteries an the drone itself has to be charged via USB, the game does not come with batteries and I didn't have any so I had to go out an buy some. I wished the game would just use recharging for both parts instead...

As the game was designed for children and families it didn’t really surprise me that Drone Home is quite simple to play. The basic premise of the game is to get all three of your aliens home before the other players can. In each round all of the players race to be the first to get their alien on the drone. To do this you press down on the button with enough pressure to launch the alien down the ramp on a straight enough path with the right amount of power that it reaches the center without going too far. This seems kind of simple and in some ways it is. Basically to succeed in the game you need to find the right amount of pressure to apply to the button. Apply too little and the alien won’t make it to the drone. Apply too much though and it won’t stop when it reaches the drone and it will fall out the other side. Since our first batch of Drone Home we have updated our instructions to include the following (as of January 2021) We’ve literally bought 5 of this game over the last year or so. The original drone broke a piece off that held the plastic rotor protector and was unfixable even with the replacement parts included.
