About this deal

Let me just say I wanted to love this book. I really did. It was one of my most anticipated releases this year and turns out I was so hyped for nothing at all. Spending time with Crew, Wren finds that he pushes her boundaries, questioning her life and finding that they have their differences but also their similarities too. Crew finds himself feeling protective and possessive of Wren especially when a teacher with a certain reputation starts to show an interest. They start to spend time working on other subjects and Crew encourages her to explore the feelings between them without pushing her to do more than she is ready for. But as others begin to learn of their ‘friendship’ they are pulled apart but Crew is not giving up without a fight and proves just how much she means to him.

Wren was cute. I liked her growth in confidence but she was a bit stupid sometimes. I liked that she added the art aspect to it but didn’t make it her whole personality. The whole thing with her being a virgin and then losing it was basically the point of this book. It’s obviously gna be repeated a lot which I was prepared for, so it didn’t really annoy me. A festive/birthday return to see what Crew and Wren’s life looks like in the few years since they finished school and travelling. Married with a baby, willow, we join them in the days leading up to Christmas and of course Wren’s birthday which falls on Christmas Day. They are navigating life as new parents and Crew working for his older brother’s real estate company. Steamy, romantic and totally addictive, this is a story that proves that true love really does happen when you least expect it . . . anyone who knows me, knows i absolutely hate insta-lust. but here? i literally did not care. they didn't even have sex until like the 60-70% mark, and the build-up to it was perfect. they explored each other thoroughly instead of jumping straight to sex which i appreciated and showed how patient and thoughtful crew was.

Creative Play

The characters, the storyline, the spice and everything in between was executed beautifully. I think what everyone will enjoy the most is how the author brings the title of the book into play. It was one of my favourite scenes and I hope someone appreciates it as much as I did! The virginity of the female lead was one of my concerns before reading. I was wary about how it would be handled—whether she'd give it away to the first boy she sees or whether she'd be heavily pressured into it but after meeting Crew, my doubts just flew out the window.

She arrived at Lancaster Prep boarding school the first day of our freshman year, and no one knew who she was. Fresh and untested, open and accepting with that damn smile that seems permanently etched across her face. Every girl in our class immediately fell under her spell. Followed her everywhere she went. Desperately wanted to be her friend, even fought for the coveted spot of best friend. They copied her effortless style, and she set the school abuzz every time she wore her hair a different way or put on a new pair of earrings, for Christ’s sake. She is a leader they all follow, and she quietly rules the school, just like me. Her crown is light though. Made of spun glass and airy effervescence and with zero expectations. While mine is heavy and cumbersome, reminding me of my duty to the family. To the name. One more thing that I liked about the book was that there wasn’t the regular third act breakup structure we usually see. There were ups and downs throughout. It kept me entertained for sure. he literally threatens a pedo teacher to stay away from wren, and then gets him arrested for having sex with underage girls Return to the glittering Lancaster world with the story of a damaged woman who gets her chance to redeem herself with the one man who’s been in love with her forever…All of her hero’s always have this “grumpy” shitty attitude that acts as an excuse for their disgusting acts and let them get away with it when they do something cheesy and “romantic” for the heroine after doing the worst things a person can do to her. in reality, you get the cringiest...no *creepiest* romance?? between our two main characters, wren and crew.
