About this deal

Whilst they`re there, they start to unravel where their missing sister Sukie is… This book is so well written!

Although it is fiction, the book contains a lot of historical contexts and this could be a powerful teaching tool to use across the curriculum. This book was truly eye opening and it has taught me a lot about the different lived experiences of WW2. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!Home to William Golding, Sylvia Plath, Kazuo Ishiguro, Sally Rooney, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Max Porter, Ingrid Persaud, Anna Burns and Rachel Cusk, among many others, Faber is proud to publish some of the greatest novelists from the early twentieth century to today.

There is an evidence base which shows a strong correlation between literacy levels and health outcomes. This one is different as it is more than narrating what it was like for these children, having to leave their families behind, to be - not always voluntarily and happily but more begrudgingly - taken in by strangers in the country side; it turns into a full-blown mystery involving code-cracking and a major rescue operation. By shining a spotlight on supplementary characters’ preconceptions and showing their progression towards change and acceptance, my class were able to connect with the injustices faced by refugees, both in the past and the present, on a far deeper level.German bombs are falling like pennies from a bottle when Olive and her family are struck by a bomb blast. I loved how every chapter ended with a cliff hanger, it created tension and gave me an urge to read on. I recommend it to anyone who’s into history or likes a gripping, mysterious and emotion mixing adventure of a story. Soon Olive finds herself caught up in a dark mystery linking the disappearance of her sister Sukie with a strangely coded message.

Late night meetings behind closed doors, mysterious communications, maps, foreign words and furtive conversations.I enjoyed this book because it is set in the war and it gives you the feel of what it was like to be in it. My favourite part was when they found a suitcase from one of the people that her sister was trying to save. Olive is a brave heroine and there's a good twist towards the end that even the most wily readers won't see coming. My favorite part is when Sukie (Olives older sister ) goes missing because you wander where she had gone. We meet three siblings during an air raid in London and follow Olive and her brother Cliff on the hunt for the truth to their sister going missing.
