About this deal

No longer constrained by a film’s run-time, Ash vs Evil Dead gives fans hours of gloriously gory action, as well as an unprecedented look at the battle-worn man who once defeated the Army of Darkness.

First of all, a couple of the extras features that were promised with this Sony edition, which is a single disc with everything housed on the Blu-ray, as opposed to a supplemental DVD in the US - “Ellen and the Teacher” (? Most all of them can be found on previous versions, but at the same time, there are a few others mysteriously missing from the package. Fans continue to revisit the series, and its other incarnations, partly because it's a Raimi movie, but also to revel in the next adventure of this pessimistic, accidental superhero.Horror icon Bruce Campbell is back for the ultimate instalment of Ash vs Evil Dead, a bloody, violent, yet fun horror comedy adventure that continues the legacy of Sam Raimi’s beloved franchise. Whether inside the cabin or outside in the dark woods as Cheryl runs from some ravaging trees, there is a great deal of definition in the foliage or random objects littering the cottage. Raimi crafts a world that is both horrific, and yet darkly comedic at the same time, shifting tone with each sequel to bring a different aspect of the evil of the deadites to fruition. The documentary is liberally interspersed with on-set and location footage, goofs and rehearsals which reveal the fun and the antics, as well as the sheer bloody hard work that went into making the film. There's also about an hour's worth of deleted footage, alternate scenes and more in "Treasures from the Cutting Room Floor.

Shadow delineation is keen and detail is never sunken or lost amid the darker portions of the image.

And by also putting forth respectable restoration efforts, like digitally removing Robert Tapert at the beginning of the movie.

At about 17m 10s, you see a zooming close-up shot of the book of the dead, which then should cut to lightning striking a tree, then an exterior shot of the cabin at night, but the Elite version cuts straight from the book, to the shot of the cabin, leaving out the lightning. The above list only covers the list of visual tweaks (there would likely be a long list of audio tweaks too), but that aside, it's still an excellent presentation. The easter egg; 'Book Of The Dead The Other Pages' is a single unedited shot showing of Ash thumbing through each page the Book Of The Dead. They bolster the sound of the demons rushing through the forest, they add weight to every impact, and their presence is all-enveloping.
