About this deal

Colorful, vibrant and atmospheric I was greatly impressed by how Iggulden gets to the core of the greatest civil war and doesn’t diminish the rawness and harshness of the times. It's up to his son to take the throne, but frail in body and mind, he is dependent on his supporters to run his kingdom.

His previous two series, on Julius Caesar and on the Mongol Khans of Central Asia, describe the founding of the greatest empires of their day and were number one bestsellers. Book 2 (Trinity) was published September 2014 and the final instalment (Bloodline) is scheduled for release in September this year. It is 1454 and for more than a year King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness, his eyes vacant, his mind blank. The author skillfully weaves the bodacious actions of two main fictitious characters (Derry Brewer, the King’s spymaster, and Thomas Woodchurch, a commoner living in Maine, France) with some pivotal historical events that took place under the reign of Henry VI of England. Born in 1971 to an English father (who was an RAF pilot during the Second World War) [1] and an Irish mother, Iggulden went to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary in Ruislip, Middlesex, then attended St Martins School in Northwood, before moving on to Merchant Taylors' School.Contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately.

Most authors are quick to dismiss de la Pole as an inept blunderer but it all looks very different from his point of view. Iggulden has set it in the time of the fall of the English Kingdom of France in the late 1440s and the civil unrest that followed. What is to follow is an very intriguing and marvellous tale of Kingship, power, loyalty, treachery and death, and in this circumstances King Henry VI must somehow seem to survive, and although supported by his very strong wife Queen Margaret, this King due to his ill health, he will feel the strain and hardships of being a King, resulting in his downfall. The Wars of the Roses book series by Conn Iggulden includes books Stormbird, Wars of the Roses: Trinity, Bloodline, and several more.
