I have two pairs, Classics, and KSOs, and I’m two different sizes in them (one is a men’s 41, the other a women’s 42). Before Vibram FiveFingers were introduced, there was no minimalist footwear constructed with individual toe pockets that encouraged natural, barefoot movement, while at the same time providing enhanced grip and protection.

On my skeletoes the laces snapped in under a week, the rubber on the toes started peeling after a few months of occasional wear. That said, my VFF’s (KSO) are my favorite all round do everything everywhere (that wont wreck them).

the shoe now features reflective material on the heel as well as more color combinations so barefoot fans can choose a color that caters to their personal style. They make several versions of the VFF and some are just as slick feeling as my skeletoes, but even those are way better built. In the long run I think Vibrams will always come out on top because they make a better product, and most people who start with skeletoes will inevitably upgrade. I want to know how many Vibram sales they have taken from people like the ones who are continualy approaching me saying things like, “My son/daughter/wife/I tried a pair on at Kohls/Dick’s/JCP and don’t understand why you like them. I have to say I’ve been seeing these around the Nashville area for about a month now, and it bugs the crap out of me for the same reasons.They are not water-resistant but they are perfect for walking at the parks because they dry very quickly (They recommend washing them in the shower by putting soap in them and mashing your feet around and sitting out to dry which is great when you use a great smelling body wash! Its kind of like mountain biking where you look ahead and your brain has already processed what's a few feet in front of you so you can concentrate on what's ahead and potentially what you may have to duck underneath. On the style front, they look a bit more like normal shoes, and with a pair of jeans probably fly under the radar more than VFFs.

The Fila design had four pockets (combined pocket for the 4th and 5th toes) whereas the Vibram had five pockets for the toes.I also fixed the blister issue by wearing the Skeletoes with a pair of Injinji toe socks, and there was still plenty of room for my toes to stretch.

I highly recommend the specialized socks such as Injinji socks be worn with the Skele-Toes, for any distance and especially longer runs.This ensures more protection from snagging or stubbing on objects along trails, of the pinkey toe (a problem for users of FiveFinger designs, at times). So I hope you can forgive my sarcasm here— it’s just a bit shocking to see Fila using the word “original” in their marketing of the Skeletoes.
