About this deal

Within the Can-O-Worms® built in mounds encourage worms to move from the collector trays to the working trays. Bigger households will need a larger wormery although the size will also depend on the space you have available. Our breathable Moisture Mats for Can-O-Worms provide these conditions where they are most needed, on the surface of your composter. It’s made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, making it a more environmentally friendly choice although we found that the thin hand grips made trays tricky to hold when full.

Finished compost is removed from the bottom tray and once emptied this is placed back on top of the other trays to repeat the process.Instructions say it won’t be required for months but I reckon if I put it on top is there would be no gap to the soil where the worms are? I'm about to start adding Bokashi compost so I'll get back to you on that one but as a general principle you shouldn't add masses at any one time. Made from breathable, 100% natural fibre (bio-degradable jute fibre), the blanket is thicker than a hessian bag and will break down as your worms work within the wormery – you can expect the worm blanket to last for between 3-6 months before it will need replacing. I usually add about half the depth of the tray or more knowing that this layer will quickly drop down in level as the bedding breaks down and compacts.

Until January the can o worms was outside in the rain (with a raincap on) but has since been moved into a shelter. The included 500g worms will give your composter a healthy population to start with and the wormery bedding block ensures there is a neutral medium to start the worms off in before you start to add your kitchen waste. I wanted to do that because I had far too much "fresh" food to go striaght in the wormery, and I hoped by bokashi-fermenting it the worms would get through it quicker.

Fat, meat and oils are to be avoided, some that are “recommended” but we do not advise are tea bags, the tea is fine but the bag is usually man made and will not decay, another one often “recommended” the contents of the vacuum cleaner! The ‘mound’ at the centre of this tray has been designed so that any worms that fall into this tray are able to climb back up. My Can-o-Worms arrived with a small bag of potting compost like substance which went in immediately. Composting Worms – worms will be sent out with your wormery unless you specify you would like to receive a voucher. newspaper or even a piece of plastic cut to fit, this is to encourage the worms to the surface to feed, you do not need to purchase “worm rugs” or “worm mats” unless you really want to.

Worm Farm and Compost Conditioner – developed to help neutralize acidity and balance pH levels so that your composting worms can digest larger quantities of waste faster. I will monitor the moisture of the bin on a daily basis the first couple of days and see if the worms are happy to be collected by the client this weekend. The Varied Diet of Skinks: Insects, Fruits, and More Skinks are opportunistic feeders, and their diets can vary significantly depending on their species and the environment they inhabit. Migration usually occurs at night and you find them all over the floor in the morning, after initially setting up the wormery it is a good idea to stand it on wet newspaper/cardboard, cloth or sacking, this way any escapees can be retrieved in the morning before they have dried out, if the problem persists for more than a couple of nights which can happen when there is a few days of wet or stormy weather then it would be best to place the wormery, with the lid off, under a low level light at night, the problem should settle after a night or two. It is important to make sure you use only composters in your Can-O-Worms since earthworkers will not do well. They live inside the waste in the wormery container and thanks to big appetites and a fast metabolism, break down food waste like egg shells, vegetable peelings and tea bags and turn them into compost for your garden.
