About this deal

That said, I found this tequila very poor. Not one for sipping or a T&T. Even in a margarita there are some unusual notes coming through, something like burning rubber which I suppose some people could enjoy that but not me! The General Wine Company is committed to providing its customers with the best possible wine experience. The company's team of experts is always happy to help customers find the perfect wine for their needs. Fill a glass with ice. Pour Don Julio Reposado over ice. Top up with Two Keys Grapefruit and garnish with a pink grapefruit wedge. Cazcabel Piña Colada

This unaged, clear tequila is triple distilled for an exceptionally smooth sipping experience, with slight hints of citrus, floral notes and white pepper. There’s no throat burning with this premium tequila from Sauza, named for the three generations of their family who have been making their tequila since 1873. With this one, the agave comes from a different field or rancho each year, which means that (rather like wine) you get a slight variation in the aroma and taste with each batch (although unlike with wine, it’s the different terrain, not the different year, influencing the characteristic flavour). The fact that it’s produced in conjunction with Tomas Estes, an official tequila ambassador for the Mexican government, probably tells you all you need to know about the quality. When most people think of tequila they might be reminded of boozy, shot-filled nights, but there’s so much more to tequila than salty shots. If you haven’t already been introduced to the world of quality tequilas, you’re in for a treat because there are some truly fantastic options out there. Not really sure why people feel the need to comment when they clearly don't have a clue what they are talking about'This has an interesting, loamy, spicy depth of flavour. It's 100% agave. This is not a mixto. So the rude, pompous person reviewing here who has spent over 20 years in specialist alcohol retail is wrong, I'm afraid it is actually you not the other reviewers who doesn't 'have a clue' or 'know your job'. It’s light for a reposado – possibly too light for some – but its unique combination of flavours saw it take the gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2009. Great for sipping, and delicious for margaritas.

Shake all ingredients. Fine strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a fresh orange twist. Maestro Dobel Diamante Raspberry Lime Tequila can be a stiff drink, but it’s no stronger than any other spirit. When produced for consumption in Mexico it’s usually 38% ABV, but in the United States it must be at least 40% alcohol to count as the real deal. For consumption in the rest of the world, it can be anywhere between 31% and 55% ABV. How we test tequila Heat up some olive oil in a large wok. Shallow fry the onion and garlic on a low heat until golden, then add in the red and yellow peppers. Cook for a few minutes until softened, then add in tomato, jalapeños and seasoning. Salt the rim of glass if desired. Pour Don Julio Reposado over ice. Squeeze the juice of half a fresh lemon into the glass. Top up with Two Keys lemon mixer and stir. Garnish with a wedge of fresh lemon. This stays in the barrels for longer – generally between one and three years – and the barrels themselves are smaller, which adds to the flavour. Blanco – a white-coloured spirit, bottled or stored straight after distillation or aged less than two months in stainless steel or oak barrels. This beautiful, colour changing tequila from The Butterfly Cannon is an instant favourite. Whether you’re already a die-hard tequila fan or new to the spirit, this modern take on tequila is guaranteed to excite you. Out of the bottle it’s pale blue in colour and transforms into a light purple once your mixer is added. Despite this excellent showmanship, it’s not all style over substance.

Fill a wide, shallow dish with 2-3 mm of fine salt. Cut a lime in half at the width and rub around half of the rim of a margarita glass. Holding glass upside down, dip the wet half delicately into the salt.

Once we’ve completed our initial taste testing, we compare the flavour and quality of each tequila to similar products across a range of price points and ask an all important question – is it good value for money? Our lengthy testing ensures there’s a tequila for everyone on our list, whatever your taste or budget.
