About this deal

Dimethicone means the product 'glides' and can be rubbed in efficiently - ideal for wriggling infants or for gentle baby massaging - plus you can use less. Just like you lather your skin with body lotion to fight dryness, your baby might experience dry skin, too. Our scientists are constantly learning about babies’ specific skincare needs, with over 90% of all industry-led baby skin care research coming from us! Now, we have combined our latest clinical research with our love for babies to improve our products, meeting and beating the top regulatory standards in the world. At JOHNSON’S ®, we strive to be Gentle on Baby, Gentle on Price.* While it might seem like the list of things you need to buy for your new baby (or baby-to-be) is miles long, there are really only a handful of necessities that you’ll use regularly — and for some people, one of those is baby lotion. Enhances the performance of an emulsifier. Helps keep the ingredients in our baby lotion from separating and gives it a consistent texture. Naturally derived from coconut or palm oil. Cetyl Alcohol

Enhances the performance of an emulsifier. Helps keep the ingredients in our baby lotion from separating and gives it a consistent texture. Naturally derived from coconut or palm oil. Glyceryl Stearate The same applies to a number of other baby lotions, including the Fred & Flo product and Superdrug's My Little Star, as well as Sainsbury's Little Ones which is advertised as being 'delicately fragranced'. This group of ingredients has been carefully chosen to work together to maintain high quality by helping prevent the formula from separating, losing its texture, or growing mold and bacteria. Carbomer This ingredient works with other ingredients to moisturize baby's skin. Naturally derived from vegetable oil. Isopropyl Palmitate This group of ingredients has been carefully chosen to work together to be easily applied on baby’s delicate skin and provide moisturization. Water (eau)We spoke to cosmetic scientist Dr Barbara Olioso of The Green Chemist Consultancy, to find out what's in baby lotion and why moisturising is so important for delicate newborn skin.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if it reflects or absorbs, Titanium Dioxide is a pretty awesome sunscreen agent for two main reasons: it gives a nice broad spectrum coverage and it's highly stable. Its protection is very good between 290 - 350 nm (UVB and UVA II range), and less goodat 350-400 nm (UVA I) range. Regular sized Titanium Dioxide also has a great safetyprofile, it's non-irritating and is pretty much free from any health concerns (like estrogenic effect worries with some chemical filters). Floral/Powdery. The heart of the fragrance is built around a trio of Rose, Jasmine and Creamy Iris. The floral notes also work to compliment the oriental, powdery and classic musky notes. For this reason, it’s important to be choosy about what products, especially skin care products, you’re using on your baby. The saturated nature of coconut oil also means that it is a heavy-duty-oil ideal for dry skin types. A double-blind research confirmed that extra virgin coconut oilis as effective in treating xerosis (aka very dry skin) as mineral oil.Another study found that coconut oil is more effective than mineral oil in treatingmild to moderate atopic dermatitis (aka eczema) in children.

Johnson's Baby Lotion contains titanium dioxide, an 'opacifying agent' that helps to give the product its signature milky appearance. Baby skin is absorbent, so anything applied to the skin is easily brought into the body, Solomonian says. Don’t worry too much about these changes, unless your baby seems uncomfortable. If they do, consider talking to your pediatrician. Drying soaps should be avoided, as babies generally don’t need soap at all except in the diaper area, and even there, a mild soap is important to avoid irritation or drying,” she says. She says: 'Hypoallergenic is not a guarantee that the product is allergy free, it means it has a lower risk of causing an allergy.'Keep in mind that less is more and most babies don’t need lotion, to begin with. If you decide to use lotion on your baby, you may want to consider applying it after bathtime to maximize their skin’s ability to retain moisture, according to Solomonian. As for hair care, coconut oil has pretty solid research showing that it can penetrate into the hair very well (better than mineral oil and sunflower oil) and it can prevent hair protein loss as well as combing damage. If you have problems with damaged hair, split ends, coconut oil is worth trying as a pre- or/and post-wash treatment. Labmuffin has an awesome blogpost explaining in more detail why coconut oil is good for your hair. If you’re concerned about a specific food affecting your baby’s skin, or if you’re generally concerned about their skin despite getting the right nutrition, speak with your pediatrician. Should I bring my baby to a dermatologist?
