About this deal

I personally believe all nailers should include rafter hooks and truly appreciate the effort Hitachi has made to include them on their nailers.

The NR90GC2/J8 features a longer trigger stroke for safer use and a reduction in misfires, dry firing lockout again to help prevent accidental nail fire and a soft grip handle for improved control and reduce user fatigue. Li-ion batteries, for instance, and gives you mains power without the hassle of cords, as well as extra safety with no trailing leads. The law dictates just how many nails you can legally fire with a nailer in a day - assuming that you don't want to end up suffering from vibration white finger in your middle age. To operate the nailer you use the power button, hold it down for about a second and the blue light comes on. The longer trigger stroke ensures user safety and the high 90J driving power ensures a strong fix every time. The selective actuation button lets the user quickly select between sequential mode or bump fire mode. Light-years ahead of the old Impulse tools from the 1990's, cordless nailing is now one of the hottest topics in construction.

With at least three leading brands ready to compete, and several others closing in on the competition, who's top dog when it comes to cordless framing guns? The new kids on the block, Hitachi's new NR1890DR (plastic collated) and NR1890DC (paper collated) cordless framing nailers are ready to rattle cages with the longstanding cordless competition at Paslode and Dewalt. Li-Ion batteriesNo air hose or compressor requiredEliminates the cost of fuel cellsAir/spring drive system means less recoil, better flush driving and easier maintenanceHigh stable driving power allows the nailer to drives nails up to 90mm into lumber with ease.

AFAIK both the Senco Fusion and Milwaukee guns use a closed system with pressurised nitrogen and the system always leaks a wee bit, so over time the gas cylinder needs to be replaced. The driving power of the NR90GC2/J8 is truly outstanding, a whopping 90 Joules, whilst its fully sequential actuation type means it doesn't sacrifice speed for power. We can, without hesitation, recommend this nailer to any framer or user that wants a portable, powerful nailer with a battery platform than doesn’t take an arm and leg in which to get invested. On 1st unboxing I thought it seemed quite heavy (more similar to an sds drill than a cordless tool) however it is very well balanced and comfortable to use in either hand all day long. I understand that the Hikoki is slightly different - in their guns the piston rests part way down the cylinder when the tool is powered off but when powered on, the brushless motor drives the piston to the top position, compressing the sealed air into a reservoir.

However, when it comes to paper tape nailers, the Hitachi NR1890DC can definitely hold its own against the Paslode CF325XP (905600), and the Dewalt DCN692M1. It also has a safety feature to avoid accidental firing - the trigger needs to be pressed within 2 second of pressing the nailer head in single fire mode, and in bump fire mode it's vice versa, i. There was a comment about balance, but let me say that from experience it makes little difference to useability. For general use the Hikokis get a lot more use nowadays, and the Rawls which tend to get used as backups or when I need extra bodies nailing for a day or two).It weighs just over 4kg without a battery and is bigger than most pneumatic framing nailers but for me personally, I think that's a fair trade off for the convenience you get from using a battery operated nailer. The biggest disadvantage to the Hitachi is its weight, which weighing in at 10 pounds with battery, is a pound heavier than the Dewalt DCN692, and three pounds heavier than the Paslode CF325XP. The HiKOKI / Hitachi 18v Brushless Framing Nailer is a new addition to HiKOKI / Hitachi's cordless range. The HiKoki NR1890DBCL/JP 18v cordless 1st fix framing nailer is a brand new addition to Hitachi's cordless range, it is fitted with a brushless motor and dual function trigger for easy changes between bump fire and single fire. The NR1890DR 18V Cordless Plastic Strip Framing Nailer completely raises the bar for cordless framing nailers.
